Montenero at Pelican Bay
Taken down to the slab and rebuilt, this 3,100-square-foot residence at the top of Montenero looks out over the Gulf and the Clam Pass mangroves, and the finish palette takes its cues from that view: bleached white oak, soft water blues, jade-green stone, and pearlized Venetian plaster, with a few flashes of fuchsia borrowed from the Pelican Bay sunsets.
Our crew reworked the floor plan for easy entertaining, clad the entry vestibule, primary bedroom, and primary bath in oak paneling, and built the kitchen cabinetry with sharply folded island ends, a detail the owners requested as a reminder of the years they spent in Japan. Marble and quartzite counters, a sculpted bar wall, a walnut fireplace surround, two guest suites, a paneled office, custom closets, and a wraparound lanai round out the scope.
The build carried on through a hurricane season that took the building's freight elevator out of service for months, and around a gas line discovered mid-construction that required the cabinetry to be re-detailed on site.
